Hey Idiot, You’re Speaking Japanese!

Feet up with a coffee in hand, I pondered over the name of this very website.

One soothing sip and a light bulb sparked - GROW YOUR DOJO

You see, it’s an unconventional choice.

Maybe not for a Karate practitioners. After all, Dojo is a Japanese term.

But as a long term Taekwondo student, should I be using Korean lingo?

In marketing, we appeal to our audience.

Proclaimed artists use stage names.

Michael Caine or Maurice Micklewhite
Larry King or Lawrence Harvey Zeigler

Some use a stage name that rolls off the tongue nicely.

Many stage names serve a purpose. Does Hulk Hogan seem as threatening when you know his actual name is Terry?

Dojo is a commonly known word in the martial arts community.

Dojang, the Korean equivalent, is not.

Speak the language of your target audience or communication will crumble.
